Nasipit Port has a reinforced concrete general-purpose wharf utilized for foreign and domestic general cargoes and passengers. It is approximately twenty-five (25) Kilometers from Butuan City with concrete-paved roads connecting to Misamis Oriental, Davao, Surigao and all parts of Mindanao.
PORT LOCATION
The Port of Nasipit lies at 8°54’47” N latitude and 125°20’9” E longitude within Butuan Bay, west of Port of Masao. It is positioned 5 kilometers east of the Butuan Bay entrance and strategically placed at the mouth of the Agusan River, near Bolo-Bolo Point to the northeast.
FOUNDATION CONDITION
Geotechnical investigations conducted during the 48th RPDP Port Study identified a mix of soil conditions under the port structure. Near the shoreline, the soil is stable and firm, while areas further offshore consist of softer materials.
HYDROGRAPHY
The port’s waters are deep and suitable for vessel berthing. The seabed primarily comprises mud and clay, with occasional sand and gravel deposits. During high tide, currents flow into the harbor from the sea, while at low tide, wave activity is concentrated on the western side of the inlet.
SEISMIC RESILIENCE
The port’s infrastructure was designed to withstand a seismic coefficient of 1.4, making it resilient to moderate seismic activity. This ensures structural stability and safety during earthquakes.
LAND ACCESS
Nasipit Municipal Road adjacent to National Highway Agusan del Norte – Misamis Oriental Road Nasipit – approximately 25 kms from Butuan City with connecting roads to all provinces and cities of Mindanao.
