The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) officially ushered in the holiday season with its Nationwide Christmas Tree Lighting event held simultaneously across all Port Management Offices (PMOs) on December 6, 2024, via Zoom. Each PMO presented uniquely themed Christmas trees, creatively symbolizing local cultures and PPAโ€™s Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

PMO Agusanโ€™s Eiffel Tower-inspired Christmas tree stood out as a masterpiece of innovation and sustainability. Its design, which utilized an existing elevated water tank, embodies PPAโ€™s 50 years of excellence, service, and dedication. The towering structureโ€™s four lattice pillars represent PPAโ€™s Mission, Vision, Mandate, and Core Values, while its three girder beams symbolize the interconnected operations in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. A golden star crowns the tree, signifying half a century of achievements, while a traditional belen at its base reflects the port communityโ€™s shared values of love and unity.

In line with PPAโ€™s commitment to environmental sustainability, PMO Agusan incorporated reusable materials such as bamboo, coconut husks, dried cogon, nipa leaves, used egg trays, and plastic bottles into the design. These materials, once the holidays conclude, will be repurposed for urban gardening, soundproofing, organic fertilizer production, and other eco-friendly initiatives. This approach reinforces the theme of love and service, extending beyond Christmas to the community and environment.

Strategically positioned in a prominent area within the port where passengers, employees, and other stakeholders pass through, PMO Agusanโ€™s Christmas tree has become a beacon of inclusivity, creativity, and holiday cheer. Its Eiffel Tower motif not only inspires awe but also symbolizes unity and strength, making it a fitting centerpiece to mark PPAโ€™s golden milestone and the spirit of the season.
