The Port Management Office (PMO) of Agusan conducted a successful onsite earthquake drill on September 26, 2024, as part of the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for Calendar Year 2024. The drill took place at Baseport Nasipit and the Terminal Management Offices in Butuan and Masao, with active participation from PMO Agusan personnel, Advance Security Agency, and terminal operators GATI and CASCOR.
The exercise was carried out in compliance with National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Memorandum No. 013, s. 2024, which mandates the conduct of quarterly NSEDs across the country.
The main objective of the drill was to assess and improve the preparedness of employees, port users, and stakeholders in responding to earthquake risks. Participants practiced key safety procedures, including the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique, which help minimize injuries during an earthquake.
Participation in NSED is part of PMO Agusan’s continuing efforts to promote a disaster-resilient community.
