In preparation for the Caraga Regionโs 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) – Port Management Office (PMO) of Agusan conducted a two-day Earthquake Preparedness Orientation and Building Emergency Evacuation Plan (BEEP) development on January 27โ28, 2026, at the Port of Nasipit. PMO Agusan has been designated as the ceremonial venue for the regional drill scheduled on March 12, 2026.
The activity was attended by 32 personnel, including representatives from Globalport Agusan Terminal Inc. (GATI), and was conducted in coordination with the Office of Civil DefenseโCaraga, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of the Local Government Unit of Nasipit.
In his message, Acting Port Manager Atty. Kahlil L. Lamigo emphasized that as a government office entrusted with public operations and personnel welfare, PMO Agusan must ensure that its facilities, systems, and people are adequately prepared to respond effectively to seismic emergencies, stressing that preparedness is not optional but a shared responsibility.
Day 1 focused on earthquake preparedness measures and the formulation of a Building Emergency Evacuation Plan specifically tailored to PMO Agusan facilities. Day 2 covered the review of the exercise plan and the finalization of the drill timeline in coordination with the PMO Agusan Incident Management Team.
The activity forms part of PMO Agusanโs continuing efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness, ensure compliance with safety and disaster risk reduction standards, and reinforce the Philippine Ports Authorityโs commitment to safeguarding its personnel, port users, port facilities, and the surrounding community.
