In compliance with the guidelines set forth by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) through Memorandum Circular No. 8, series of 2024, PMO Agusan conducted a face-to-face earthquake drill today, March 25, 2024 as part of the CY 2024 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). The drill saw active participation of personnel from PMO Agusan, Advance Security Agency, and Terminal Operators (GATI and CASCOR) at Baseport Nasipit and Terminal Management Offices of Butuan and Masao.
The primary focus of the drill was to ensure preparedness and responsiveness in the event of a seismic emergency. Participants engaged in evacuation exercises following the โDuck, Cover and Holdโ protocol, which is crucial for minimizing injury during earthquakes. Moreover, the 1st quarter NSED also incorporated relevant exercises tailored to the specific needs identified in a comprehensive assessment to enhance the overall earthquake preparedness of the participating stakeholders.
The quarterly NSED underscores the commitment of PMO Agusan towards building a more resilient and disaster-prepared region, aligning with national efforts towards comprehensive disaster risk reduction and management strategies, ultimately saving lives and safeguarding infrastructure.
