The Philippine Ports Authority Port Management Office (PPA PMO) Agusan successfully served as the ceremonial site for the 2025 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on November 13, 2025, at the Port of Nasipit.
Designated as the focal venue for the provincial observance, Nasipit Port hosted a full-scale earthquake simulation in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Nasipit, the Provincial DRRMO of Agusan del Norte, and other partner agencies. This quarterโs ceremonial drill simulated a Magnitude 7.2 earthquake scenario along the Mindanao Fault, testing the readiness and coordination of port personnel and partner responders in executing life-saving actionsโfrom โDuck, Cover, and Hold,โ evacuation procedures, and fire suppression, to search and rescue, medical response, and damage assessment operations.
The drill was evaluated by a team led by Ms. Erma R. Suyo, Provincial DRRM Officer, together with Ms. Lorna C. Bayer, Operations and Warning Division Chief, and other members of the Provincial DRRM Team. A total of 193 participants, including PPA and GATI employees, port users, and stakeholders, were assessed on preparedness, coordination, and adherence to established safety protocols, earning a Satisfactory Rating with a General Average of 83 points.
Following the exercise, the PMO is preparing the After-Activity and Participation Data Reports for submission to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Caraga within fifteen (15) working days as part of the requirements for the issuance of a Certificate of Participation. All observations, comments, and recommendations from the evaluation have been duly noted and will be given due consideration as the PMO continues to enhance its safety measures and emergency response procedures.
