PMO Agusan, represented by select personnel from the Port Services Division (PSD), joined the region-wide observance of the First National Innovation Day 2025, held on April 21 at the H.E.R.O. Learning Commons, Caraga State University (CSU), Butuan City.
Spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga in partnership with the sectoral committees of the Regional Development Council (RDC), the event carried the theme โFLIP: Forging Leaders of Innovation in the Philippines.โ It brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from local government units (LGUs) and academic institutions, all committed to advancing innovation in the region.
Anchored on Republic Act No. 11293, which institutionalizes the annual celebration of National Innovation Day, this yearโs event emphasized the importance of fostering innovation and technopreneurship in the region. A key highlight of the celebration was the Startup Pitching Competition, which encouraged emerging startups to develop and present Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions to address pressing regional challenges. The competition followed a Reverse Pitching activity, where government sector representatives outlined specific issues they faceโprompting startups to design market-driven, investor-ready solutions.
Presented by PSD Manager Lemuel Ian T. Moralda, the PMO pitched โDigitalizing the Integrated Port Info-System of Nasipit Port,โ an initiative aimed at modernizing port operations by digitizing data, integrating services, and establishing a centralized digital platform to improve efficiency and attract investment. The pitching competition will culminate on April 24 where selected startup teams will present their proposed solutions.
PMO Agusanโs participation in the event affirms its commitment to digital transformation in port services, aligned with national efforts to enhance public sector innovation and responsiveness through technology.
