In a forward-looking step toward digital transformation, the Port Management Office of Agusan participated in the 2025 Caraga Startup Pitch Fest held today, April 24, at The Pavilion, Watergate Hotel, Butuan City. Represented by Port Services Division Manager Lemuel Ian T. Moralda, along with PSD personnel, PMO Agusan joined regional leaders, startup founders, and educators in marking National Innovation Day under the theme, โFLIP: Forging Leaders of Innovation in the Philippines.โ
The event, themed โInnovating for Regional Development,โ was spearheaded by DOST-Caraga in partnership with the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev), and featured the Caraga Regional Innovation and Startup Ecosystem (RISE) initiative. A key segment of the program was โreverse pitching,โ where government and public sector agencies posed real-world challenges for the startup community to solve through tech-enabled innovation.
PMO Agusan was earlier tapped to present the challenge โDigitalizing the Integrated Port Info-System of Nasipit Port,โ inviting startups to propose AI-driven, cloud-based solutions. Out of eight competing teams, Caraga State Universityโs Technology Business Incubators (TBIs) clinched first place with their prototype, โNaviPORT,โ while students from Northeastern Mindanao State University followed with entries titled โPORTalโ and โAimPORT.โ
Mr. Moralda also served as one of the judges during the pitch fest, assessing the feasibility and impact of the digital innovations presented. The winning team will receive prizes and incubation support to further develop their solution, bringing it closer to implementation at Nasipit Port.
PMO Agusanโs participation affirms its commitment to innovation in public service, echoing the broader goal of integrating technology into governance and aligning local efforts with the Caraga Regional Development Plan. Through initiatives like these, the port continues to navigate toward a smarter, more connected future.
