The Nasipit port under the jurisdiction of PMO Agusan turned into a vibrant scene of celebration earlier today, January 27, as Most Rev. Fr. Ruben Labajo, D.D., arrived aboard Cokaliong Shipping Linesโ MV Filipinas Cebu. Personnel from Port Police and Port Services Division ensured the bishopโs arrival was seamless and secure.
Around 350 well-wishers gathered to welcome Bishop Labajo, the newly appointed leader of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Prosperidad in Agusan del Sur. The welcoming party included a convoy of nine marked vehicles, representatives from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), officials from Brgy. Talisay and the Nasipit Local Government Unit (LGU), as well as priests, parishioners, and dignitaries from Butuan City and the provinces of Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur.
Adding to the festive atmosphere were performances by the Saint Michael College of Caraga (SMCC) Drum and Lyre Corps, while personnel from the Nasipit Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) ensured the eventโs safety and orderliness.
Bishop Labajo, who previously served as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Cebu, is the first bishop appointed to the Diocese of Prosperidad. His arrival was greeted with cheers, music, and heartfelt expressions of faith and unity from the attendees.
